Dr. Zhuang is a recipient of the CCF Doctoral Dissertation Award conferred by Chinese Computer Federation in 2008 and IBM Ph.D Fellowship 2007-2008. He is currently an associate professor at the College of Computer & Information Engineering in Zhejiang Gongshang University where he joined as faculty member since May 2008. He obtained his PhD degree in computer science from Zhejiang University under the supervision of Prof. Yueting Zhuang in Mar. 2008. From Jan. 2008 to Mar. 2008, supported by IBM Ph.D Fellowship, Dr. Zhuang has spent three months to participate in the study of an optimal hybrid storage model based on DB2 as a research intern in IBM China Research Lab. Here is his CV (HTML, PDF). Dr. Zhuang is a member of ACM, IEEE and CCF. During his Ph.D period, as a co-investigator, he has actively evolved in a NSFC sponsored key project titled “Large-scale Cross-media Retrieval and Intelligence Techniques” (Grant No. 60533090), a project of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholar “Fusion of Visual Media and Generation of Digital Actors” (Grant No.60525108) and the China-US Million Book Digital Library Project, etc. Recently, he has been working closely with some researchers in Carnegie Mellon University, Microsoft Research Asia, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, and Southeast University, etc. Dr. Zhuang has served as PC co-chairs of three international workshops (MBC’09, WCMT’09 and SQRCC’09), associate editor for Int’l Journal of Systems and Service-Oriented Engineering, and reviewers for some technical journals such as IEEE TMM, IEEE TKDE, etc, and international conferences such as ACM MM’08, ICDE’08,‘09, MMM’05,’06, WAIM’05,’08. Dr. Zhuang has published more than 20 high-quality papers including IEEE Int’l Conf. on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS’08), ACM Trans. on Asian Language Information Processing(TALIP), Journal of Computer Science and Technology(JCST), Science in China(E:Information Science), Journal of Software and Journal of Computer Research and Development, etc. Additionally, he has co-authored two books or chapters, and 3 patents have been issued. Dr Zhuang is engaged in the four aspects of research issues: database systems, index techniques, parallel computing and multimedia retrieval and indexing, etc. |
